Web designers presently opt for a responsive web design as it allows for the content and imagery to resize according to the type and size of the device being used. However, the time has come to start building sites automatically after understanding the site content and user behavior through the process of artificial intelligence system engineering. We know that technological developments in the artificial intelligence space has helped it perform technological wonders. Grid claims to have built a new technology that will help the ordinary web master create professional websites in a matter of minutes. The Grid also has the ability to recognize faces. Challenge for Web Designers According to some experts, the artificial intelligence is actually a threat for web designers as it replaces the web design work done by designers. However, this cannot be true, as despite the technological improvements in the artificial intelligence space, machine learning cannot replace the human designer and his intelligence. The fact is that as of now both are complimentary. This is because, website building platforms rely on web designers to train them to learn and understand user demands and behavior and then create web designs that focus on users’ specific needs. The abilities of artificial intelligence powered websites are presently limited; but with technological improvements taking place, more complex and better-designed websites are expected to surface. There are also limitations in the selection of layouts and color and AI websites are reported to take longer time to load . Google prefers sites that load within 5 seconds and any site that takes longer to load is looked down upon by Google. Besides, the present artificial intelligence based tool like the “Grid” is best only for small businesses or individuals who need a brochure style website. Companies that need a website with several links and complex architecture will surely need the specialized skills of a programmer. Artificial intelligence will need further technological developments to be fully able to replace the expertise, creativity and adaptability of a skilled web developer. But developers would be advised to become more familiar and adept at using artificial intelligence as AI becomes smarter and gets more acceptance with the passage of time.
