Why Your E Commerce Site is Not Converting

You had taken great pains to develop the best e commerce site possible hoping, the site would attract large number of online customers. The site in fact attracts a large number of online customers; but they are also leaving within seconds of arriving at the site. We all know that whether it is two minutes or ten minutes, visitors will eventually leave; however, your goal should be to keep visitors as long as possible. The longer the user stays, the greater the chance of his browsing through your entire product portfolio and making online purchases.   Obviously, you cannot expect all users coming to your site to stay on and make purchases. This is because their intentions vary and whereas some come just to browse, others come to gather information on products only to make the purchases later. Let us go through some of the major reasons why intending customers abandon your e commerce site without making any purchase. Product Ads Do Not Conform to Products Being Sold There are instances where the products being advertised and the actual products being sold are vastly different. However, if your site does not actually feature the products that you advertised, then your users will definitely leave the site for good. Illogical Design Structure E commerce websites generally have complicated structure and products are divided in categories, sub categories, catalogs etc. However, you should implement it in a logical manner, as a logical structure is important to people who enter your website through a product page. If users find your site difficult to navigate and finding the products takes a lot of effort, your users will definitely leave your site. Lack of Contact Information Every online seller must display the physical address and phone number of his store as customers are becoming increasingly suspicious of online players. Knowing the physical address and making phone contact would provide a sense of trustworthiness to the online buying process. If your e commerce site does not provide physical address, phone number, e-mail id etc, customers may doubt its trustworthiness and leave your site. Site Speed No customer wants to wait indefinitely for a site to load fully and according to kissmetrics, 47% of customers expect a site to load in 2 seconds or less. A fast loading site will improve conversions by over 7%. If your site does not load fast, customers will click the back button and leave as quickly as they came. Building Trust People buy from companies they trust; adding testimonials, project portfolios, trust logos, security certificates etc will enhance this trustworthiness. If on the other hand, customers have serious doubts about the company, customers will press the back button and exit the e commerce site. Lack of Product Information Display all useful information about products on your website so that customers know what they are buying. If the site displays all product information including the photos, then they are more likely to buy that product. If not, they would click the back button and leave your e commerce site. Mobile Friendly Design Having a mobile friendly e commerce website design is of utmost importance as most initial searches for product information are conducted on mobile devices, though most actual purchases are done on desktop. If you do not have a mobile friendly responsive design, then, you will be excluded from search results delivered on mobile devices and will definitely lose a large chunk of online business.
