Users want navigation menu displayed clearly and do not understand the hamburger symbol. The year 2017 may see sites doing away with the hamburger menu button. Video It is said that a picture can tell a thousand words and videos can be used to enhance our designs and provide better user experience . A homepage background video can introduce a product or service within seconds. HTML 5 makes it much easier for us to develop ways to display our videos and other animated visual footage in our websites. With the advent of YouTube anybody and everybody could create video and share it to whomever they liked. Use of videos are going to be more common in the coming year. Increased Use of Animations & GIFs Animations are increasingly being used on websites as they are often a great way to show how something works or how to do something etc. It is expected that animations will become more prevalent in 2017 as more content types are shared and animation helps communicate things easier and quicker than text or videos Material Design Material design is a design language developed by Google in 2014 that makes more liberal use of grid based layouts, responsive animations and transitions etc. It is a comprehensive guide for visual, motion and interaction design across platforms and devices. In web design terms, it is the space between graphics, columns, images, text, margins and other elements and offers breathing time for the eye. White space separates unrelated elements in a design and is the most obvious way to make things stand out like the Call to Action (CTA) As the use of white space facilitates a better UX, its increased use is expected to gain ascendancy in 2017.
